Advance tickets are now on sale for the world’s premier Three Day Event, The Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials which runs from May 4th – 8th 2016. See Tickets for more information.

This will be the 25th anniversary of Mitsubishi Motors’ sponsorship of Badminton, one of the longest in sport, and will be duly celebrated.

The sponsor is donating a copse of 25 trees to be planted prominently on the Badminton estate and have also commissioned a pair of rocking horses from Stevenson Brothers, based on the Duke of Beaufort’s favourite horse, Countryman III on whom he finished second at Badminton in 1959. One will be presented to the Duke and the other will have pride of place at Mitsubishi Motors’ Cirencester HQ. The fact that Cirencester is so close to Badminton has undoubtedly helped develop the close working relationship between sponsor and event.

Regular Media visitors will have seen that Mitsubishi Motors not only provide excellent facilities, but that the Company team and the Badminton team work from behind the same desk and have a great rapport.

It has also been announced that Mitsubishi Motors and Badminton have agreed to extend the sponsorship until 2019. Hugh Thomas, the Event Director, has welcomed this vote of confidence, while Lance Bradley, Managing Director of Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, said:

“We are delighted to have extended our sponsorship of the Badminton Horse Trials. To reach the milestone of 25 years in any partnership is a great achievement and to do it in the sporting arena is truly remarkable. This accomplishment is testament to the relationships we’ve built over the last quarter of a century with Badminton Horse Trials and we are very much looking forward to celebrating with them in May and for many more years to come”

As ever, the Event attracts the very best all round riders and horses in the world, in a truly international showcase of equestrian talent.

In his third year as course designer, the Italian Giuseppe Della Chiesa will be going against tradition by using the same basic anti clockwise route as last year, which is generally considered a bit less challenging than the other way, but the famous quarter of a century old Trophy will take as much winning as ever.

The week of sport kicks off with the newly branded Mitsubishi Motors Cup contests, which have become very popular with the amateur ranks of riders who get a chance to gallop over the hallowed turf in the Duke of Beaufort’s park, before the international competition begins.

The winners of each Mitsubishi Motors Cup classification will this year receive a new Mitsubishi Shogun vehicle for a year, prize money, trophy and commemorative plaque to keep. Other support includes the use of VIP facilities at the finals, access to professional advice and equipment, and branded merchandise.

The five hundred shops and exhibition stands will be open for business from the Wednesday and last year’s initiative to spruce up the Trade Stand area is a continuing operation.

Each year Badminton supports one specific charity, and it was announced in November that it would again be World Horse Welfare, the charity that is also the International Equestrian Federation’s welfare partner.
