With the 2017 season complete, all eyes now turn to the 2018 Mitsubishi Motors Cup where we see some familiar faces – including three previous winners – gaining a qualification spot to the prestigious BE100 and BE90 competition.

Katie Hancock, who has won the BE100 final for the past two years, on two different horses, has booked her spot to the 2018 event with another new ride, the seven year old mare Chytodden Crystal Rose, after they placed fifth in the Aldon International BE100 three day event in October.

2015 BE90 winners, Hollie Booth and Dramatic (pictured), collect their qualification to return – this time in the BE100, following a fifth place finish at the Mitsubishi Motors Regional Final at Broadway (2) Horse Trials. They are joined by Kilcandra Rambo Ray, who was Katie Hancock’s winning ride last year, who took his second BE100 Mitsubishi Motors Cup qualification with new rider Justine Fordham from their runner up placing at the last Regional Final of the season, Norton Disney (2).

Several experienced Mitsubishi Motors Cup competitors can also be seen throughout the list of 2018 qualifiers, including 2017 blogger, Lauren Allin and her multi-talented gelding The Aviator III, who produced a double clear to finish in 19th place in the BE100 this year. Lauren Collard and Orions Brite Spark who make this their fifth qualification, and the horse’s seventh, will be hoping to replicate their best finishing result from this year where they came 6th in the BE90 along with another qualification for BE100 competitor, Alyson Parker and J J Malone, who impressively make this their sixth consecutive qualification in a row.

The 2018 Mitsubishi Motors Cup takes place on 1st and 2nd May on the beautiful Badminton Estate, just the day before the international CCI4*, Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials (2nd – 6th May). The Mitsubishi Motors Cup gives eligible riders competing at BE90 and BE100 level the exciting opportunity to ride on the same estate as eventing’s most well-known athletes and compete for an impressive prize package thanks to generous sponsors, Mitsubishi Motors. Along with prize money, rosettes and rugs, the winner of each section will also drive away a brand new Mitsubishi Motors vehicle of their choice for one year.
