The Mitsubishi Motors Cup got underway this morning [Tuesday 30 April] with the first competitors entering the dressage arenas at 9am to kick start the 2019 competition.
At the lunchtime break, Jo Hales heads the BE100 on her own British-bred 11 year old mare, Dawn Chorus (UP WITH THE LARK x ROSEWORTHY) with a score of 25.8 penalties. Tom Sloper sits less than one penalty off the lead with 26.3 penalties on Zara Brewer’s nine year old Honduras, with Emma Rarity slotting in to third on her own 15 year old gelding Zummertimes after posting a score of 26.4.
In the BE90, Heidi Reed and her own 14.2h gelding Ilar Vincent lead at the lunch break with a brilliant score of 22.6 penalties. Laura Greenhalgh currently sits in second place on Sarah Reeve’s British-bred Stanhopes Travelling Man, on another good score of 24.3, and Megan Elphick in third with 27.1 on her own 14.0h mare Brynithon Silver Locket.
Competition continues this afternoon with the dressage phase, before the final competitors perform their test on Wednesday morning along with the show jumping and cross country phases.
